All along

I have been listening to Chris Tomlin this morning.
 Hearing passionate requests that God come to America.
I have sung songs like this for most of my life.  For some reason, this morning, while I understand the heart of what is being sung,
something about the paradigm behind what is being sung feels off to me this morning.
The truth is we have all that we need, and we never havent.
We have the love and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
God has never left.
The Spirit doesnt leave every time we do something He doesnt like.
His love and commitment have never changed toward his people.... whereever they are.
Really, we are where we are because under pressure, we have chosen to revert back to the thoughts and beliefs of our flesh... the realm of hopelessness, and unbelief.
But God is not mad at us. And while he is sad for the pain we have endured, He is not at all bothered, or undone. He knows who He is, and who we are, and what our inheritance is.
In truth, what we are really saying is " God we didnt know how to believe you. We didnt always listen, we let the ways of the world shape our expectations, and who we believe we are, and it feels like we are sinking down into a place where there seems to be no hope of getting closer to you again as a nation. Would you please in your un-ending kindness wash over us is a powerful wave of your Spirit and help us get back to seeing who you are, and who we are....help us clean out our spiritual ears, soften our easily distracted hearts, and fill us with the awareness that we are resting in Daddy's arms.
Open our eyes to see. You have been with us all along...longing to love us, and bless us...
